Engaged in Key Partnership

What We Did

Partnered with Tiwala to explore the feasibility of using digital education to encourage learning in under-resourced communities.

Launched Tablet Programme

What We Did

Positive Feedback

Learning Points

Introduced an educational app using tablets in lessons at village bangrays or town halls with 20 children in Legazpi, Philippines.

Expanded the programme to engage 500 children over the next two years. Many of whom showed improved literacy and numeracy skills.

Children enjoyed educational games from the app and were engaged in English and Math.

The app offered interactive activities offline but required students to connect to the Internet at times to refresh data.

As Internet access was not readily available, teachers adapted their lessons and continued to engage students.

The Patatas reframed their understanding of offline and started exploring alternative solutions.

Expanded Tablet Programme to Schools

What We Did

Supported principals, who were heartened by the programme’s impact, with adopting the programme at 5 public schools, or roughly 10% of schools in Legazpi.

Introduced Offline Learning Prototype

What We Did

Positive Feedback

Learning Points

Integrated an offline system that stored more data and resources than the app and could be shared with other teachers on the network.

Teachers were excited by the expanded possibilities for learning experiences they could create.

Teachers wondered how they could keep the single-board chip system protected, learning from previously losing donated computers during typhoon season.

Introduced CaseStudy to New Partners

What We Did

Developed CaseStudy prototype – a digital library and content management system that came with accompanying accessories that empowered teachers to create classrooms everywhere.

Introduced CaseStudy to new rural communities. Namely:

  • A school in Mombasa, Kenya (through Tana River Life Foundation)
  • An orphanage in Batam, Indonesia (through Rainbow Connection)

Improved Student Skills with CaseStudy

What We Did

Extended engaging digital resources in the Philippines to 500 students who improved their literacy and numeracy skills by approximately 50%.

Redesigned CaseStudy for Data-Informed Learning

What We Did

Redesigned CaseStudy – now anchored by a Learning Management System that empowers teachers to access enriched resources and simplify daily tasks, like tracking students’ progress.

Our Impact

771 million young people and adults lack basic literacy skills. We’ve been on a mission to leverage tech to bridge the digital divide in education since 2014. With innovative partners committed to driving sustainable solutions, we’re getting closer to shaping more equitable futures.
